STI: A Crisis That Can Be Contained?

In a country like ours, one of the biggest taboos still revolves around ‘Premarital Sex’. And so, a major section of the society chooses to believe that ignorance is bliss and never wants to discuss it.

Turns out, turning a blind eye doesn’t solve the issue, and not talking about it has some serious repercussions.

While most of us are completely against discussing the most natural human instinct, the youth in the country is suffering the most as a result. How? The lack of awareness on sexual education has led to an increase in the prevalence of many STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections), including HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus).

Due to lack of knowledge or insufficient understanding or wrong information, most of the youth do not practice safe sex, exposing themselves to the wide range of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).  And, another reason why these diseases/infections go undetected is because most of the STDs/STIs are symptomless; so it is very difficult to convince the youth about the risk they might be facing. If in case, there are any symptoms, they vary from person to person or may occur long time after the exposure, and thus, can be easily neglected at an early stage.

However, following a few simple steps, can protect one from STIs. There are majorly two things that one should be aware of for the prevention on STD/Is.

Use Protection
The first and foremost rule for any sexually active individual is to never underestimate the use of condoms. It is the best way to keep many STD/Is (and unwanted pregnancies) at bay.

Get A Routine Health Screening Done
The second most important step is to get a routine health check done by an expert. This will help in identifying the infection (or pregnancy) early on (acquired knowingly/unknowingly) and will help in benefiting from correct precautions and/or treatment on time.

Right information can help you live a full and a quality life.

It is always better to be safe than sorry.

Be Safe. Be Happy.

Why are Regular Health Check-ups important?

How often do you update your social media status? Often enough…

When was the last you updated your health status? Yes, that too requires a regular update. Not very often, but annually at least!

Regular health check-ups play an essential role in keeping us healthy as they identify the potential problems way before they can cause trouble or develop into some pathology—that’s when one starts showing some signs and symptoms.

We all want to stay healthy, but we hardly pay any heed to our well being until we fall ill. That’s why a regular health screening is required to keep a check on our health status as it tells the doctor the inside story of our body.

It acts as a preventive measure which is of utmost importance in this time and era, where the environmental factors are affecting one’s health adversely. In addition to it, our fast paced life makes it difficult to have an active lifestyle along with bad eating habits, which furthermore worsens the situation. The hectic life equals to stress and all these put together could lead to serious health problems like hypertension, diabetes, heart conditions, liver problems, joint pains, and the list goes on and on.

Timely diagnosis leads to early treatment and chances of cure are higher. So why not nip the issue in the bud before it starts affecting you?

Health screenings are offered in wide variants and can be even customized to individual needs. One can opt for a quarterly, twice a year or an annual check-up, as advised by the treating doctor depending on the individual case and family history, which can detect the possible diseases one is at risk.

One more advantage that a regular health check-up offers is that it lowers the medical costs in the long run by mitigating the potential risks at an early stage.

These screenings evaluate the future ailments and try to crop it in the nascent stage, giving you a chance to lead a happy and healthy life.

Still thinking, or are you planning to update your health status?

Indeed #HappinessIsHealth 🙂

Health is Happiness.

Health is a common subject of discussion. Even a simple conversation starts with “Hi. How have you been?” the answer to which mostly is “Good!”

But are we good?

As per the principles of the constitution of the World Health Organization (WHO), ‘Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.’

How many of us enjoy this state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity? In bits and pieces yes, we do. But in totality, most of us lag somewhere, that ‘where’ is what needs to be identified.

Changing lifestyle from eating habits to sedentary jobs to more outgoing attitude—has an impact—some positive and some negative— on oneself and people around. In the era when everyone wants to live independently, it is very essential to be independent when it comes to healthcare.

Health checks play a significant role in identifying any pathology that can affect us physically, mentally and socially. Regular checks on your health status helps you live life to the fullest. As the old adage says, “A stitch in time saves nine,” then why delay for a simple health check or medical consultation until later when there are high chances of the health deteriorating with little scope for cure.

Timely medical intervention results in early diagnosis and better prognosis, which means better quality of life—a life of health, comfort and happiness.

Happiness is the key to success, and at Lab & Clinic, we safeguard the happiness of all our consumers.
